History 1980 - 1961

1978 Heinz Blanc, son of the founder, dies on 28th January. Heinz Treffinger becomes Chairman of the Board of Directors. In the middle of 1978 the production of kitchen and table appliances in Kronau is sold to Fissler of Idar-Oberstein.
1976/77 A new company philosophy leads BLANCO to concentrate on the three product groups Domestic Technology, Food Serving Equipment and Medical Engineering with complete problem solutions. BLANCO increases supplies of systems to both canteens and hospitals. Products for rehabilitation extend the product range. BLANCO is awarded a bulk order from the USSR: all the fish markets belonging to the OKEAN Group are equipped with BLANCO products and decorative elements. Frank Straub, a business graduate and grandson of the company founder, starts work as Head of Finance. A modern information centre is opened in the Neu-Isenburg sales office.
1974/75 Oil crisis and recession in the house-building industry lead to an unexpected reduction in turnover and require drastic measures. Dramatic staff cuts: the factory in Michelfeld and the sales offices in Hanover and Stuttgart are closed.
  On 1st January 1975, the company E.G.O. Elektrogeräte Blanc & Fischer enters as a limited partner with a share of 50 % and takes over 100 % of the shares in Blanc & Co. Verwaltungs-GmbH, Reinhard Fischer becomes management chairman. Heinz Blanc takes over the chairmanship of the newly established Board of Directors.
1972 In defiance of the national trend, the number of BLANCO employees briefly increases to over 2,000. On 12th December, the company changes into a limited partnership with the name “Blanc GmbH & Co. KG”. At the same time, the Blanc & Co. Verwaltungs-Gesellschaft mbH takes over the management of the business as a company with personal liability.
1971 A new distribution building is opened in Oberderdingen with 2,500 m² of floor space. More subsidiaries are founded in Austria, France and Switzerland. Existing product range is extended to include medical engineering, food service equipment and kitchen and table appliances.
1970 Subsidiary is founded in Brussels.
1969 The factory in Kronau is also expanded with a new production shop. News of BLANCO’s success in the press: on 28th August, the 4 millionth sink rolls off the production line. The number of employees rises to 1,720.
1968 Systematic expansion of the sales network in Germany: new sales offices are opened in Düsseldorf, Bad Salzuflen, Hanover and Stuttgart. The Sulzfeld factory is extended: a new shop for the manufacture of the first double bowl one-piece sinks in Europe is opened.
1967 In November, the 3 millionth sink rolls off the production line. New products in the range: profiled and flat worktops and inset sinks. BLANCO attaches great importance to training the next generation of qualified staff: a modern, trend-setting training centre for training the industrial apprentices is built in Kürnbach.
1966 The Munich sales office in Feldgeding opens for business. Staff move into the new administration building in Oberderdingen. The product range undergoes a targeted expansion: stainless steel sinks for caravans, lamp posts and flagpoles, clean air boxes, milk vessels and milk troughs are included in the manufacturing programme for the first time.
1965 The first foreign subsidiary is founded in the Netherlands. The BLANCO factories achieve a daily output of 2,200 sinks. On 7th December, BLANCO celebrates its 2 millionth stainless steel sink. The number of employees increases to 1,400.
1963 On 2nd September the 1 millionth sink rolls off the production line. BLANCO’s share of the German market is almost 50 %. Blanco sets up its own efficient toolmaking department in Oberderdingen. A sales office and distribution centre is opened in Neu-Isenburg to provide a better service for BLANCO customers in the Frankfurt area.
1961 Sink manufacturing capacity is able to be greatly increased with the expansion of a new factory in Michelfeld. Production is expanded to include medical bath tubs.
