€312 million turnover in the financial year 2014 / Significant increases in the international and domestic markets / Market position developed with innovative kitchen sinks, mixer taps and waste systems / Global market leader in composite granite sinks once again confirmed/ Major investments in German facilities / Expansion of European logistics centre completed
Blanco closed the 2014 financial year with a new record turnover. The company noted consolidated total sales of €312 million, a 6.5% increase on the previous year. The sink and mixer tap specialist enjoyed significant growth in the domestic market, increasing its turnover by 5.4% to €115 million. However, it achieved an even better turnover in its international markets, achieving a 7.2% growth to €197 million. The foreign share rose but continued to hover around the 63% mark. The number of employees in 2014 totalled 1350 worldwide.
"With attractive products, a reliable delivery service and important product portfolio and materials developments, especially in the sink material Silgranit PuraDur, we have once again not only been able to improve our market position in Germany but also internationally," confirmed Achim Schreiber, CEO and Chairman of the Executive Board, at the annual press conference at the company's headquarters in Oberderdingen.
At the same time, Germany's biggest sink manufacturer and market leader for mixer taps invested €33.6 million, more in the company in the past year than at any other time in its history. Almost two-thirds of this amount was allocated to the expansion of the European logistics centre in Bruchsal which was officially opened a few days ago. Further investments went to fund the expansion of plant and production technologies at the German sink plants in Sinsheim and Sulzfeld and in the Toronto manufacturing facilities in Canada.
Describing 2014 as an "excellent financial year", Achim Schreiber said it was both a superb foundation and motivation for 2015. Furthermore, conditions in Germany are good and include a very high level of employment, low interest rates, and consumers' greater awareness of and appreciation for quality. Yet despite the prospect of the economy continuing to recover, the tense economic situation that currently prevails in various Mediterranean countries, coupled with the problems in Russia and the Ukraine and their possibly long-term consequences on industry as a whole, should not be under-estimated, he said. Nonetheless, he was still expecting a good rate of growth in 2015.
Better than the market
Blanco continued to acquire further shares of the market both at home and abroad in 2014. Major factors in the company's successful international growth were the successes of its subsidiaries in the USA and the UK. Even sales on the Russian market developed pleasingly, although the dramatic drop in the rouble brought with it its own problems. In China Blanco can also look back on a dynamic business development – albeit against the backdrop of slightly weaker economic growth.
Market leader with Silgranit sinks and mixer taps
The premium manufacturer, which celebrated the production of its 50 millionth sink in 2014, was again able to delight its customers last year. Blanco demonstrated particular strength in the segment of Silgranit sinks and once again developed its position as the global market leader in composite granite sinks. Countless innovations in all segments and the addition of a new colour bear witness to the company's keen understanding of requirements in the various markets. This was crowned by a significant development of this outstandingly resilient and easy-to-clean material Silgranit PuraDur – today even easier to clean with a subtly smoother haptic.
The mixer tap division proved to be a further growth engine. Blanco has again clearly developed its market leadership, as is confirmed by the current Heinze Sanitärpanel (2014), and is the German market leader – for the 14th year. With a multi-faceted range of innovations Blanco has completed its product programme with various functional and elegant solutions. The consistent striving for a consequent adherence to a well thought through product design is reflected by the numerous awards the company has received worldwide for its designs and innovations.
