Blanco scores four more awards: this year, no fewer than four products have received the renowned red dot product design award. In fact, one of the mixer taps has even been given the highest possible award of "Best of the Best". “This is an amazing achievement, and it confirms our understanding of professional design,” said a delighted Achim Schreiber, chairman of the executive board. “Furthermore, these awards testify to the consistently coherent design quality of all of the product groups in our portfolio.” The sinks, mixer taps and waste systems manufactured by this global player from the South of Germany have always represented aesthetically designed functionality, a high level of innovation and excellent manufacture. For many years now, Blanco has been attracting attention by achieving top positions in various design competitions, confirming its design strength and innovativeness.
At this year’s red dot competition, the 37-strong jury of international experts checked and evaluated 4662 products, more than ever before in the 50-year history of the design award, which is presented by the Design Centre North Rhine-Westphalia. The evaluation is based on criteria such as functional and formal quality, ergonomics, and the level of self-explanation and innovation.
Its keen understanding of product design is visualised in many ways in the four award-winning innovations, and in particular in the Blancosaga mixer tap, which was given the highest accolade of all – “Best of the Best”. This puts it among the absolute elite of this year’s entries. The characteristic feature of this mixer tap is its surprisingly new control concept and the technicality of its pared-down form.
The more filigree Blancoseda appeals for its exceptional design language. The clever swivel principle of the spout in a vertical direction facilitates the filling of even tall containers, and in the normal position ensures that there is no splashing.
Blancoattika 60/A from the SteelArt high-tech division blazes an entirely new trail in design and craftsmanship. The unique authentic material aesthetic of this handmade bowl is presented with striking details. With its accentuated edge geometry and irresistible elegant functionality, it makes a spectacular statement on an architectural level. Attika recently received the iF product design award 2013, and in addition to that was also voted “Best of the Best” at the Interior Innovation Award 2013.
Blancoselect appealed to the jury of experts for its clever details and features. The modern waste system with optional organiser drawer and foot control for the sink unit follows a consistently function-oriented design principle. Select focuses on the optimum utilisation of the available space, perfect stability and cleanliness.
Blanco has now added even more attractive solutions in excellent contemporary designs to its portfolio for customers with these award-winning products. And thanks to its long-term approach to aesthetics and functionality combined with the excellent manufacturing quality, the four shooting stars on the winner’s podium are already modern classics.
