An era is ending for the sink and mixer tap specialist Blanco: after over 23 years on the Management Board, the last eight as its Chairman, a formal ceremony took place on 12 December 2017 to mark the retirement of Achim Schreiber. At this event, the long-term head of Blanco passed the symbolic baton on to his successor Frank Gfrörer, who will take over as Chairman of the Management Board on 1 January 2018. Before coming to Blanco, the 50-year-old business management graduate was Managing Director at Interstuhl and WMF AG. Originally from Ulm in Germany, Mr. Gfrörer has been on board since the beginning of October in order to achieve a flowing transition with Achim Schreiber.
Numerous guests, including companions, shareholders, Administrative Board members, business partners and VIPs from the worlds of industry and politics, honoured the services and achievements of the 63-year-old head of Blanco, who shaped the company into one of the world's leading manufacturers of high-quality, innovative system solutions for the modern domestic kitchen. As Dr. Johannes Haupt, Chairman of the Administrative Board put it so succinctly, as "Captain Blanco", Achim Schreiber steered his ship with vision, care and a keen sense for the economic weather situations and long-term developments on the markets, not only increasing its turnover but its profitability as well, and he thanked him for his extraordinary commitment and tremendous lifetime achievement. He also expressed his delight that Achim Schreiber was remaining with the Blanc & Fischer Familienholding, and in the coming year will be changing to the Blanco Administrative Boards.
Frank Straub, who personally brought Achim Schreiber from Hamburg to Oberderdingen 23 years ago, described it as "one of his best decisions ever", and one that also brought the family company long-term good fortune. Blanco was largely shaped by Achim Schreiber. His fellow Board members Rüdiger Böhle and Wolfgang Schneider, along with others at Blanco, acknowledged and honoured the many years of this co-operation in extremely stylish and original contributions that, with charm and warmth, spoke clearly of the high esteem in which Achim Schreiber is held – and at the same time expressed the much-lauded Blanco culture.
Under his aegis, strategic steps were taken that resulted in Blanco assuming the position of, for instance, the world market leader in granite sinks. The company has also held the uncontested top position for kitchen mixer taps on the German market for over 16 years. Achim Schreiber, who has successfully boosted the company's internationalisation in the past decades and rooted Blanco as a premium brand on the world's markets, expressed his thanks for the tremendous level of trust and the corporate freedom granted by the shareholder families and the Administrative Boards. Both had been an important foundation for the excellent and successful co-operation for many years.
As he thanked his management colleagues and the Blanco team, he highlighted the committed and concerted collaboration by everyone, which was notable for the staff's respectful interactions with each other and their solution-orientated actions – in a company that allowed tremendous design freedom and a high level of individual responsibility. This "Blanco spirit", which is also authentically experienced by customers, has contributed greatly towards the company's successful growth. So it was clear that Achim Schreiber should be involved in the recruitment of his successor.
In his speech, Frank Gfrörer, designated Chairman of the Management Board, thanked the Group for putting its trust in him. He was looking forward to taking on this exciting and challenging task, and promised to continue to develop Blanco as a leading international brand, and to provide new impulses.
