TORONTO, Jan. 18th, 2018 – Introducing DURINOXTM, the latest innovation from BLANCO STEELART® using a technology inspired by the aerospace industry. DURINOXTM is a unique stainless steel surface treatment that uses a process known as “shot peening” to harden the surface of stainless steel and produce a highly resilient material. This hardening process results in a velvety-matte texture with a uniform, homogeneous structure that is twice as hard as traditional stainless steel.
The BLANCO PRECISIONTM DURINOXTM Apron Front is the first sink model in the BLANCO portfolio to be offered with this exclusive, patented DURINOXTM surface. DURINOXTM treatment enhances an already sophisticated sink model with unsurpassed quality, function, design and strength. DURINOXTM possesses the highest level of density for pure uncoated stainless steel and is highly resistant to scratches and fingerprints in comparison to conventional stainless steel surfaces.
The DURINOXTM production process involves millions of stainless steel microspheres that bombard the surface of a steel sheet at a very high velocity - upwards of 300 km/h. These small dimples created on the sheet are what help to increase the strength and durability of the steel. After both sides of the sheet are impacted, the treatment is followed by an extremely precise restoration process that returns the sheet back to a level state.
“This patented surface technology lends itself perfectly as an apron front sink, which typically experiences more contact with users due to its exposed front design,” says BLANCO Canada’s Director of Marketing, Edyta Drutis. “Our STEELART® portfolio showcases our most innovate, state-of-the-art steel technologies, so we are excited to launch this exclusive surface to the Canadian market in the form of an apron front sink.” The PRECISIONTM DURINOXTM Apron Front is scheduled for availability in February 2018.
