Grey has been a very popular neutral over the last little while, and we used it to the maximum on this particular project.
Our clients were looking for something that had high- design as part of this remade kitchen and main floor. We decided on some grey elements but as the project progressed it was clear that it would be shades of grey with gold’s and rich blue.
We started with cabinets in grey to help mask the long narrow galley shaped kitchen. With everything the same colour, the dimensions of the room became less apparent. Monochromatic colours are a great way to make a small or odd shaped space feel better and larger. The gold fixture above the island allowed a great focal point from the living and dining room along with the gold handles on the cabinets. With everything in this shade we could place the focus where we wanted it to go.
The professional series Jenn Air range and hood vent and the wine cabinet are visually prominent while the panel received fridge and dishwasher are moved out of focus. We wanted pops of colour in the red which is a perfect complement to the grey so clocks, pepper mills appliances and florals were all in shades of red. The SILGRANIT® BLANCO PERFORMA sink in Cinder blends perfectly with the overall design of the room and takes it rightful place in the colour scheme for the kitchen. It was just the right combination of colour and beauty to make for a very happy client. The sink was the 50th shade of grey that took us over the top to the 50 shades we required. This room was a much better impact than the film ever could have hoped for!
